The Sixties
1964: Surgeon General releases a 387-page report entitled "Smoking and Health." that concludes that "cigarette smoking is causally related to lung cancer in men.”

1966: Health warnings on cigarette packs appear for the first time.

1968: Philip Morris introduces Virginia Slims brand, aimed at women.

1969: Pan American Airlines creates the first nonsmoking section on planes; TWA and United quickly do the same.
