First of all, welcome! We’re lucky to have someone like you who’s interested in spreading the word about tobacco use to promote healthier living. There are many Maryland TRASH coalitions throughout the state. All of them are youth-led, and their motto is “Maryland Teens Know Smoking is Garbage.” In fact, Maryland TRASH members have been an important part of this Web site!

Here’s the TRASH mission
"We, the youth of Maryland, have joined together smaller regional anti-tobacco groups in order to have a greater impact on teens' decisions about smoking. We want to expose facts and misconceptions about the harm of smoking and help youth who are already smoking, which will result in a better and healthier State of Maryland."

To join a group, first visit our list of coalitions to see if there is a group in your area. Each coalition listed on our Web site also lists contact information. Once you’ve found the group in your area, go ahead and contact them directly and let them know you are interested in joining. And if you see an event posted on this site that you’d like to attend, please let us know.

If there is no active coalition in your area, be a pioneer and start one! Talk to local people in the area who might be able to help you find an advisor. And always feel free to e-mail us at with any questions. We want to help you start a coalition.
