Are you ready to get involved and do something positive to reduce smoking in your community? Good for you! Below you’ll find a few basic tips on how to get started. In addition, we’ll provide some examples of activities that might inspire your own ideas.

1. Find a group of friends who are willing to collaborate with you

Activities are better planned in a group. So the first step is to find a group of people who are as committed to preventing tobacco use as you are, and find a time to get together on a regular basis to discuss your plans and how to implement them. It’s best to have a moderator for each meeting so that meetings remain organized. If no one wants to be the moderator every time, you can switch off. It’s also a good idea to write down what happens at each meeting, to document your ideas. Find an adult or a group of adults that can help you with the process. Strong partnerships between youth and adults are a great way to ensure you accomplish your goals.
